It's All Happening At The Zoo

Today we took a road trip to the zoo for the first time in quite a while. Since the weather has started to cool down, it's a lot easier to make the circuit through Africa and the Maryland Wilderness. We had to take several detours since they are doing some major construction, but it looks like they'll have some nice exhibits next year.

The giraffes and the penguins are always a favorite for Andy's kids (maybe because Mommy likes giraffes and penguins?).

Do you think Hailey likes to have her picture taken? Alex and Drew are not quite as enthusiastic. All Drew wants to do is look at the monkeys and go on the big tree slide, but Alex is up for anything.

One spinning turtle shell per customer. Feel free to have arms and legs outside the shell at all times.

After we had all the fun we could have at the zoo, we decided to take the kids to Andy Nelson's Barbecue (Drew called it the pig place) in Cockeysville to get some lunch. Andy has been here several times, since he doesn't work too far away, but I've never eaten here even though there are people that swear they make the best ribs in Baltimore. I have to say that the ribs were really good, plus I really liked the chicken, potato salad and cornbread, as well. We bought more food for dinner (can you say "Take me away, Lipitor!) so we added some beans and pulled pork to our leftovers. Adam was quite pleased with his meal when he got home from work, and says the ribs are worth the (30 mile) drive.

When we got back to Andy's house, we forced the kids to stay outside and play until almost 6pm. This picture was taken just after Drew fell asleep. The boy was worn out!
