Donuts and Dust

Adam and I had our annual weekend away together this past weekend. One of these days, it won't be just once a year, but, right now, Drew's not really interested in staying by himself--maybe when he's 6.

It was pouring and windy Friday night when we got to Hagerstown so, of cour
se, we didn't want to go back out in the rain. BUT, I happened to glance at the magazine in the room, and found an article about a donut company, Krumpe's Do-nuts, that has been in business in the area since 1934. Since they only sell their donuts to retail customers from an alley behind their facility (a house in the south part of Hagerstown) between the hours of 7pm and 2am Monday through Friday, I decided we must go immediately (this was about 10:30pm).

You can see that the box got a little wet, but there was plenty of goodness inside (at $3.65 a dozen!). The donuts were delicious, but I think I enjoyed the adventure of finding the place in the dark and the rain even more. Plus, who ever heard of buying donuts in an alley?

Once we got home from the weekend, reality set in again quickly. We are getting new vinyl floors in the house, and we had to move everything out of the way so the new floor could be laid today and tomorrow. This is how things looked as of tonight in the kitchen. Our refrigerator and stove and everything else are in the living room. What a mess! Plus, there's a thick layer of dust over everything. I guess I'll actually have to do some cleaning once it's all done.
